The magazine received five Silver Awards and two Bronze Awards in the 2001 National Health Information Awards Program for individual articles and for the magazine as a whole in recognition of outstanding patient education and health promotion. Managing MenopauseTM was awarded the 2001 APEX Award of Excellence based on the magazine's excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and its overall communications effectiveness.
Managing MenopauseTM magazine, celebrating its fourth anniversary, has become a valuable resource for the estimated 45 million American women facing menopause. The magazine debuted in Spring 1997 and has grown to an annual circulation of over 1.5 million. Over 15,000 ob/gyns in over 5,100 offices across the US distribute the magazine to their patients each day. Published semiannually, it is distributed to women ages 45-65, many of whom are making their first menopause-related visit to their gynecologist.
The magazine includes information on the latest research findings on the possible risks and benefits associated with hormone replacement therapy (HRT) as well as new treatment options such as designer estrogens, natural hormones and other alternatives. Published by ACOG, the content of each new issue of Managing MenopauseTM is carefully reviewed by the magazine's Medical Advisory Board to guarantee that every article is current, relevant, and medically accurate. All of the health issues most important to women during menopause are addressed in the magazine, including hot flashes, urinary tract problems, sexuality, cardiovascular health, diet and exercise, osteoporosis, and skin care.
In 1997, Managing MenopauseTM received the prestigious OZZIE Award for Excellence in Magazine Design presented by Folio:Magazine and a Gold Mercury Award given by the National Media Council for outstanding achievement in professional communications.
